Computers and technology can be very intimidating to some, and difficult to others who are not proficient with using it.
Learnig how to search the web efficiently can be a task and very fun all at the same time. Although you may find it difficult to search the web or to transition from one site to another, it is safe to say that you can gain knowledge in the process.
Searching the web with efficiency is simply here to help people who are not proficient with computers and gain more knowledge about the web, and become more confident and confortable with using the web. It intels learning what the browser is, the server, and a wifi for example; using micosoft powerpoint, microsoft word, exel, and simply searching the web for information that will benefit ones business. The web can be intimidating at first, but you will find that once you get more aquainted with browsing, the web, accessing your email account, its like a cirle of friends and love.
You are right, in can certainly be intimidating. I have worked on computers for years, but it was all desktop applications. The web stuff is a whole new world!! It is actually fun, but you have to just dive in and learn. In this field you definitely don't learn then jump in. You are schooled as you go.
